Attention, with all of you Asics Gel Nimbus 19. Together with its sister for pronator runners, the Asics Gel Kayano 23, the Asics Gel Nimbus saga continues to maintain its particular longevity, and now reaches its nineteenth edition with the same objective as always: to be the reference for neutral runners, accustomed to adding and adding kilometers to their legs in their weekly training sessions. And how could it be otherwise, the Asics Gel Nimbus 19 running shoe once again positions itself as one of the jewels in the crown of ASICS Running.

The new ASICS Gel Nimbus 19 brings as a novelty important changes in the midsole. We were all expecting a kind of mix of the premium Metarun model and the new QUANTUM 360, combining the best materials and technologies from both shoes, but the Japanese brand has taken a gamble with a FluidRide 2.0 midsole, a FlyteFoam midsole layer and a SpEVA upper layer. The goal is to increase the rebound sensation in each stride without the midsole losing effectiveness.

Asics Nimbus 20, the new top of the range of the Japanese brand.

The big question

After the launch of the Metarun and the Quantum 360, the big question era: Will Asics opt for the exclusive evolved GEL cushioning system, or will it incorporate the innovative FlyteFoam midsole? The answer can be seen in the Flyte Foam midsole and GEL inserts.

FlyteFoam is a safe bet, as it is a lighter and more durable material, which provides the model with superior cushioning. Also, considering that in its predecessor model, the Nimbus 18, one of the goals of ASICS designers was focused on reducing the weight of the shoe, FlyteFoam is a resource that lends itself to this. ASICS can't lose sight of the competition, and models like New Balance 1080 v6, Mizuno Wave Rider 20, Saucony ISO Triumph 3 have already managed to drop below the 300 gram barrier in their reference models for neutral running shoes.

What does not disappear is the GEL material - an evolved Gel system - which we have already seen in the Quantum 360º in the forefoot and heel area, to help minimize the impact on landing. As usual, Asics is once again betting on this material in the form of a plate, especially in the regions of the shoe where it is most needed. This is in the areas of greatest impact.

Another question that needs to be answered is comfort and convenience. Here the Japanese brand has surprised once again. When we all thought that they would resort to the Jacquard Mesh -optimal fit- and MetaCluth -better adaptation to foot movement- of the MetaRun or theinnovative Chameleon Mesh fabric, which changes color depending on the angle at which they are seen, the Asics Gel Nimbus 19 bet on a seamless mesh with very good breathability, its Fluid fit technology to ensure a better fit and a slightly narrower last.

The goal is to subtract a few grams from the model compared to its predecessor. They have succeeded. The Nimbus 19 comes in at 315 grams in a 95 US and 235 grams in an 8 US women's shoe.

Ideal user

The ASICS GEL Nimbus 19 continues to be a maximum cushioning shoe for long runs at medium to slow paces under 4:30 m/km. For runners with a neutral stride and high weight or looking for a lot of cushioning and some support.

Remember: Maximum cushioning and comfort for your long runs.
