ASICS Gel Kayano 21

A new update arrives, we present the ASICS GEL KAYANO 21. After 20 years it is still the reference shoe of the Japanese brand aimed at pronator runners who need stability and comfort. They have also managed to improve one of the most criticized aspects, its high weight. And it has been reduced to 325 grams in a size 95 USA.

According to the Japanese brand, the Asics Kayano 21 comes with 10 new improvements over its predecessors.

The new GEL-Kayano 21 stands out for being 10 grams lighter thanks in part to the new FluidRide 2.0 midsole. Its lower layer is 15% lighter than the GEL-Kayano 20 and its upper layer has been renewed in order to obtain 20% more reactivity in each step, thus helping the shoe to take off.

The outsole has also undergone significant changes, especially in the heel and forefoot areas in order to achieve a softer impact and a more dynamic toe-off. As far as the heel area is concerned, its new structure helps to reduce the speed of eversion in the heel, facilitating the operation of the Guidance Line more quickly. By reducing the speed of pronation, it helps the runner by putting less stress on the weaker muscles of the lower body. As for the toe cap, it has an improved toe-off area, more flexibility and aids the re-supination mechanism.

Increased stability and comfort

The new GEL-Kayano 21, a shoe recommended for runners who pronate or tend to pronate, also pays special attention to further improving stability. It has a more stable base that is 1mm wider and with better support in the midsole. Its Trusstic is now stronger in the shape of a pyramid and increases support in torsion. Its Clutch Counter has also been reinforced and has more stability in the heel.

In terms of comfort, the new GEL-Kayano 21 features the new X-40 Sock Liner.

This X40 comfort dry sockliner is an improved version of the sockliner used to date. The GEL-Kayano 21 is, together with the new GEL-Nimbus 17, the only model where they can be found. Its benefits are greater comfort and 40% more responsiveness with every step.
