Year 2018

Associating the concepts training shoe, daily runs and long distance results in talking about a high-flying running shoe like the iconic Ultra Boost from adidas running. A model that reaches its fourth version, or also what would be the adidas Ultra Boost 2018. Nomenclature preferences aside, the best-seller of the brand of the three stripes remains the reference for a large legion of neutral runners for its maximum cushioning, optimal fit, great lightness and extreme comfort. All of this is combined with a very attractive design, which also makes it an excellent sneaker option to wear in your most casual look.

The Ultra Boost 4.0 keeps intact all the features that have worked so well in its previous versions, offering formidable performance thanks to an ultra-responsive ride and superior fit.

Type of runner

The adidas UltraBoost are intended for:

  • Medium-heavy to heavy runners
  • Looking for a lot of cushioning
  • For medium and long distance runs
  • Slow paces
  • Some support and foot support

New in the adidas Ultra Boost 4.0

To start with the new features, the Ultra Boost 4.0 brings with it a complete redesign of its upper, implementing a new PrimeKnit pattern. This exclusive fabric has a looser fit , which contributes to a more adaptive fit of the shoe to the runner's foot.

In addition, this PrimeKnit fabric also makes the shoe lighter, more breathable and more comfortable.

More responsive cushioning

Of course, the adidas Ultra Boost 4.0 still maintains its status as a top-of-the-line cushioning model. Evidently, thanks to the ubiquitous Boost technology in the midsole. The exclusive Boost foam makes the shoe more responsive in its cushioning capacity, and as the German company itself assures: The more energy you put in, the more you get back.

Another characteristic element of the Ultra Boost saga, as well as of other adidas reference models, is in its torsion system, which goes from the heel to the forefoot area of the shoe, and which is also not missing in the Ultra Boost 4.0 to offer a more stable run.

The rearfoot of the adidas Ultra Boost 4.0 also features the efficiency of the FitCounter system. A molded heel, which, in addition to favoring the natural fit of the shoe, also protects and allows the Achilles tendon to move more freely, and is stabilized.

Superior traction with Continental rubber

In the outsole, the Ultra Boost also continues to incorporate Continental compound, another of the key synergies for the entire Boost family to be among the best sellers in the market, because they guarantee superior traction for all purposes. Together with the Stretchweb configuration of the outsole, the Ultra Boost 4.0 also stands out for its optimal flexibility, while respecting the natural movements of the foot.

The technical specifications of the Ultra Boost 4.0 also remain unchanged compared to its predecessor the Ultra Boost 3.0. That is, its drop remains at 10 millimeters (29 mm in the heel and 19 mm in the forefoot), while the weight of this model is around 300 grams.

In short, few things change in the new update of the adidas Ultra Boost 4.0. Except for the new redesign of the PrimeKnit fabric of its upper, this top of the range training shoe remains one of the references for the neutral footed runner to move at rather calm and relaxed paces, which put the time in the range of 4:30 to 5:30min/km, even going uphill.
