ASICS Metaspeed Edge Tokyo

From July 25th of this year, the new ASICS Metaspeed Edge Tokyo will be available, one of the fastest shoes of the brand, designed for the most demanding runners.

The ASICS Metaspeed Edge Tokyo is the running shoe in the Metaspeed range, designed for cadence-style runners, who tend to increase their pace both by slightly lengthening their stride and by increasing the number of steps per minute.

In RUNNEA we tell you all the details and new features of this new version, which, as we have already mentioned, incorporates new technologies developed by the Japanese brand.

What are the expectations of the new ASICS Metaspeed Edge Tokyo?

ASICS presents the new models of the Metaspeed range on May's 3 at the "Tokyo: Speed: Race" event, an event in which approximately 120 of the brand's world-class elite athletes will participate, seeking to break world, national and personal records in the 5K and 10K distances with the new shoes.

This model is part, along with the renewed ASICS Metaspeed Sky Tokyo and the new ASICS Metaspeed Ray of the high performance range developed by the Japanese brand, the Metaspeed range.

The new version of the shoe has benefited from the collaboration of the brand's elite athletes and the innovation and scientific research developed by the ASICS Institute of Sport Science team.

The new METASPEED? collection of models is the result of extensive scientific development by the ASICS team, who have refined and updated the shoes based on feedback from myself and other elite athletes. Bashir Abdi, ASICS elite marathon runner representing Belgium.

The new version improves performance over the ASICS Metaspeed Edge Paris to make it more dynamic and responsive during our running competitions.

The upper of the ASICS Metaspeed Edge Tokyo is enhanced with a new version of the Motion Wrap 3.0 fabric, improved in key aspects such as lightness, breathability and providing a better fit for our feet that will allow us to run comfortably at fast paces.

The most outstanding technologies of the shoe are found in its midsole, which incorporates the new Flyte Foam Leap foam (as in the other two models of the range) that combines perfectly with the Flyte Foam Turbo Plus to offer a softer and more reactive tread.

The shoe maintains the full carbon fiber plate that allows for greater reactivity in each of our strides and improves its performance as we run at faster paces.

The outsole, with a very similar design to its predecessor, maintains the ASICSGRIP compound that works so well and guarantees great durability for long distance running on asphalt.

Ideal profile of the ASICS Metaspeed Edge Tokyo

The runner profile does not vary much from its predecessor, as it is a high-performance shoe designed for the fastest and most demanding runners.

This model is aimed at light to medium weight athletes with a neutral stride technique and who prioritize cadence over stride length.

It is a shoe that responds perfectly in the middle and long distance, making it one of the candidates for expert runners to beat their records in distances such as the marathon.
